CHAPTER 9
“What’s wrong?” asked Gho-Stee when they reached the porch.
“Oh, it was terrible! It was horrible! It was—” then Skellii suddenly noticed Zombi. “Oh, hey Zombi. When did you get back?”
“Just a little while ago,” he replied.
“Skellii!!! What happened!?” cried Wolfey.
But Skellii apparently had forgotten all about her emergency. “So where were you all this time, Zom? You forget about all your old friends here at home? And who’s your new friend?” She smiled as she turned to JC. (It was very odd for JC to see a skeleton smile - especially a skeleton with lipstick around her teeth).
“That’s JC, from The Real World,” said Zombi.
“Hey, he’s cute,” Skellii said as she turned to Gho-Stee. “Right?”
“You know I’m standing right here. I can hear you,” responded JC.
Skellii giggled. “Oooh, I like this one.”
“Again,” JC reminded her. “Still right here.”
“You see, Mum-Z?” said Skellii. “You’re not the only fish in the sea. There are plenty of other cute guys who might want to date me--”
“Skellii, focus! What’s the big emergency!” cried Wolfey.
“Oooh yeah, that’s right!” Skellii finally remembered. She then started waving her arms around and jumping up and down again.
“You guys, you guys, you’ll never guess who was just here!”
“You’re right,” said Mum-Z, rolling his eyes. “We’ll never guess, so just tell us.”
“I’ll give you three guesses!” insisted Skellii.
“The Candy Monster?” guessed JC.
“DON’T SAY ITS NAME!” cried Wolfey.
“That’s right! THE CANDY MONSTER!” cried Skellii.
“What?!” everyone said, even though they heard her very clearly.
“How is that possible?!” asked Wolfey.
“What did it do?” asked Zombi.
“What did it look like?” asked Gho-Stee.
“Which way did it go?” asked Wolfey.
“Why? So you can run the other way?” asked Mum-Z under his breath.
“How big was it?” asked Zombi.
“Are you okay?” asked JC.
“Oh, isn’t that sweet of you to ask!” replied Skellii to JC. “You see, Mum-Z? THAT’S how a gentleman acts--”
“Skellii!” interrupted the others.
“Okay, okay. Just calm down! And I’ll show you all EXACTLY what happened! Follow me!” And she turned and entered the house.
The others followed, wondering what they would see.
